The 2016 Baron De Navarro, Ribera del Duero, Crianza is from the Ribera del Duero region. The region is one of the most internationally recognised wine-growing areas of Spain. This wine has been produced by the Navarro López family, who consistently make fantastic Crianzas. DO Ribera del Duero is characterised by low precipitations, dry summers and long cold winters. The soil is covered in layers of limey and clay sands, and the vines are between 750 to 900 meters above sea level. All this is what gives the Ribera del Duero, Crianza wines their excellent taste profile. Grapes for the Crianza are 100% Tempranillo, and the wine is aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels. Serve 16-18°C—cellar potential of 3 to 5 years.

Description

The 2016 Baron De Navarro, Ribera del Duero, Crianza intense garnet colour. The overall nose of the wine has notes of black fruits (plum and blackberry), characteristics of the variety, appear along with hints of spice and a woody undertone. On the palate, it is rich, intense, friendly and persistent. Tasting the wine is very pleasant, elegant, nicely structured and well balanced. Like all other great Crianzas, it is a great partner for most starters, cured meats, pasta dishes, red meats, game and quality cheeses. Serve 14-16°C—worth opening up the bottle a half-hour before, just to let it breathe.
